This is the biggest problem of new mothers. Breast milk is one of the issues that I am most sensitive to while raising my 3 children.
What should I do if I have more breast milk?
In the first year of my babies, I always had this question in my mind. My son was born at the time of Alper and he sucked very well from the day he was born. Thankfully, we had no problems, but he was also a baby who wanted a lot of milk and grew very fast. He used to suckle constantly, but because he was well fed, he started to sleep for 12 hours without getting up at night when he was only 2.5 months old. Remember, babies who are well fed during the day sleep better at night. My daughters were born prematurely at 33 weeks because they are twins and because of my uterine insufficiency problem and they could not suck at all because their sucking reflex developed at 34 weeks. Of course "you can't suck anyway, let's see the food!" Like every Sensitive Mother, I started by expressing my milk every 3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night and 7 times a day and fed my twin girls only with breast milk for the first 4.5 months. In fact, I fed both of them with breast milk for the first 3 months, and I increased 300 g of breast milk every day and put it in the freezer. Filling the freezer with breast milk to the brim, these milks were a life saver when my milk was low. After 4.5 months of receiving only breast milk, they took only 1 meal a day until 6 months. Until 13 months, I milked about 1.5-2 kilos of milk a day and gave them to drink.
How did I produce enough milk to express 2 kilos of milk a day and feed even twins with only breast milk for 4.5 months?
I wish all mothers a lot of milk. The benefits of breast milk are endless. Your baby will be happy, sleep better and grow better. Gas and diarrhea are less. Studies have shown that breastfed babies have a higher IQ.
We should also not forget this. Everyone's body is different. Even if you follow all of these recommendations, your milk may be low and may not be enough for your baby. I believe that genetics is also very important. The important thing is that you do your best. Don't think about the rest. If you worry yourself about this, your milk may decrease even more. Don't judge your motherhood with that. Even if you can't give milk at all, you can be the best mother in the world. You also don't have to be the best mom in the world. Again, you just have to do your best.
Note: Please listen to your doctor. My recommendations are based on my own experience and personal research only and do not replace your doctor's advice. Yours sincerely
